Witex professional floors used in the Ney show house

When “Mr. and Mrs. Ney” were selecting different types of flooring for their new home, one thing was certain: Standard flooring, such as maple laminate or beech parquet, is not suited to the modern architecture of the house. Modern types of flooring should be used, which emphasise the style of the house and which are edgy. The types of flooring used should also be easy to care for and robust, and Mr. and Mrs. Ney should be able to install the flooring themselves - at best with a glueless “clic connection”.

After looking through the extensive collection of flooring on offer from Witex, which now provides a total of four very different types of flooring with “clic locking systems” following the introduction of two new products; elastoclic pur and ceraclic original, it did not take Mr. and Mrs. Ney very long to pick out their favourites for the 140 m² of floor space to be covered.

Material and colour mix on the ground floor
The building owners chose two different floor coverings for the ground floor, which will be used in the hallway, kitchen, dining room, guest bathroom and bedroom, covering an area of approximately 80 m². The types of flooring chosen are in huge contrast to one another: slate and wood. They chose to use Witex's new product, ceraclic original in a slate finish. “Natural stone is a high-grade, valuable material, but it does not always offer the comfort that one expects from a flooring nowadays. Original slate is particularly delicate when it comes in contact with fat, oil or water, and is therefore not suitable for use in the kitchen or hall. Ceraclic original is the first product to combine the aesthetics of a stone floor with the comfort and easy-care characteristics of a modern material. For us, this was the decisive factor in selecting this type of flooring”.
With its smooth, genuine “structure” joint and the imprint on its surface, ceraclic is longer distinguishable from real stone. The mineral flooring gives a very elegant finish to the large floor area, and is a better alternative to original slate, both in price and in terms of the speed at which it can be installed. Ceraclic original also provides the building owners with all the benefits they desired: ceraclic is hard-wearing against dirt and water, has a high-grade, exclusive finish, and is very good at conveying warmth from the underfloor heating. Ceraclic is also robust and hard-wearing, and does not need to be treated with special costly maintenance products to maintain its natural sheen, unlike original slate.

As the building has an open plan design in parts, the outline of the living area can be clearly seen. This is because the owners selected the vivacious three-strip “trio clic” in Walnut (American Walnut) for the living area, with its “cosy corner”, in contrast with the slate. The owner also managed to install the pre-finished genuine wooden parquet without experiencing any problems, thanks to its proven Unilin clic connection. Another plus: Witex pre-finished parquet is a natural product and is FSC certified. It also received a “very good” grade from the German consumer magazine, Ökotest. The high-grade walnut wood is also lacquered 7 times before use to protect it from wear and tear. All told, a successful material/colour combination is used on the ground floor, which fully complies with the spirit of modern living.

Warm floor surfaces on the first floor
On the first floor, Mr. and Mrs. Ney also narrowed down their choices to two different types of flooring, as they wanted all the rooms to have a uniform appearance - the bathroom also. So they selected Witex laminate flooring in Walnut style from the “castillia” collection, for the bedroom, dressing room, hall and bathroom. The laminate flooring used is robust (25 year guarantee against abrasion), it looks good alongside the genuine wooden parquet used on the ground floor and is sufficiently water resistant thanks to its Aqua Protect core board, that it can be used in the bathroom trouble-free. In addition, its Anti-Static finish prevents unwanted electrical discharges and prevents the dirt from adhering to the floor.

In addition to its positive mechanical characteristics, the most important criteria for us when choosing elastoclic pur is that the flooring used in the children's rooms does not contain emollients or other chemicals, which release fumes over time that could harm the children”.
