30 Years of Witex - A Look into the Future
12.01.2008At thirty you are in the prime of life, young and active, have had experience and have set your goals for your later path in life. This metap hor fits Witex beautifully. The Augustdorf company is turning “30” this year and has sometimes had some very eventful experiences in all of these years. Witex was founded in 1978 as a manufactuer of plastic panel coatings (supplier for the furniture industry). In 1991, it was the first company in German which started series production of what was then the new material laminate (direct coating) and has since shaped the evolution of the new flooring segment with innovations and improvements in quality.
The laminate market boomed, Witex exported worldwide and grew with the market to up to 620 employees worldwide - Witex became a brand name. A turning point occurred until 2003, with the insolvency of the company which has since been restructured into a stock company. Four difficult years followed, particularly for the employees as did numerous negotiations on the sale of the company.
2007 was the year for setting new standards in Augustdorf. In Bear Stearns, the company saw an investor with strong capital take over the company while maintaining all current employment relationships and who brought in fresh capital for pending investments. New management came on board and formulated changed strategies and new goals with Dr. Börge Schümann und Franz-Walter Wiest
Quality, service, innovation, partnership with the customers and committed employees with lots of ideas are the assets of the company which will be the focus in the future to further develop the brand.
Witex remains the brand for the specialised trade
The Witex brand is highly trusted by specialised dealer and the trade. The Augustdorf company wants to systematically expand this position. To reinforce the brand, it is very important for Witex to maintain its contacts with partnerships with specialised dealers and the specialised trade. This also includes using innovative products to solidify its reputation as a craftsman of ideas and thereby keep the product range attractive for commercial partners and consumers. Innovative products such as “elastoclic pur“, “ceraclic original” or the newly laminate collection “xenia” recently presented at Domotex serves as examples of this.
The property company is to achieve much more emphasis on the sales mix. Here Witex is positioning itself as a floor manufacturer which achieves tailored solutions in small units as well upon customer request. As the flooring supplier for Volkswagen car dealerships or the Porsche museum, currently under construction, approx. 5,000 m2 of white ceraclic flooring are being used and have allowed the property department to prove its competence through top quality.
The simultaneous occurrence of a big “0” birthday with the restart of the company with new management and with new owners is an ideal occasion is an ideal occasion to take along our commercial partners as we head toward the future. To do this, Witex will be starting three large-scale marketing campaigns which are especially tailored for the specialised trade and the craft. For example, one of these campaigns is the “Witex Birthday Tour” which will be stopping at 30 locations and which will take us through Germany, Austria and Switzerland and where dealers can participate in their respective regions.
